Les Schwab Tire Centers - Could have been deadly!
I purchased 4 new tires at the Sutherlin, Oregon Les Schwab Tire Center. Two driving days ago, I noticed an odd sound coming from one tire/wheel. Yesterday I drove to town (23 miles through fairly winding, hilly country roads). The car (2002 Lincoln Town Car) started driving very "mushy". By the time I got to town, the car was getting difficult to control. The motorist behind me flagged me down and told me my rear driver-side wheel was wobbling. Fortunately, my auto mechanic was just a few blocks away. I had him look at it. Turns out all 5 lug nuts on that tire were loose. The wheel was about ready to fall off. My mechanic checked all four wheels. On all four, the lug nuts had been put on backward, with the taper facing out. My mechanic reversed all 20 lug nuts, and now the car drives fine, but had I still been on the road, there's no telling how severe an accident, possibly even death, may have resulted.
You would think the people working at Les Schwab would know the basics of how to screw in a lug nut - taper against the wheel. I wonder how many other people "trusted" Les Schwab with their vehicles and lives, but didn't catch the problem in time.
I will never shop Les Schwab again!
Reason of review: incorrect workmanship.
